Email Marketing is My Favorite! Here’s Why
If Facebook and Instagram were to go under, I wouldn’t be devastated. As long as I can send my emails!
Email marketing is way more effective than social media, and I actually enjoy it more. Here’s why:
I can connect with my audience better
There’s only so long a social media caption can be. Not only can I write more in an email, I can also include multiple photos and other elements that can build a connection with my audience.
Designing is fun
Recording reels and designing graphics for social media feels like a chore. Designing an email feels like an enjoyable creative exercise.
Direct links are more effective
There’s no way to add an active link to an Instagram caption (link in bio, anyone?), and while you can on Facebook, the algorithm is not a fan. After all, Facebook wants to keep users on Facebook. The same goes for all social media platforms.
In an email, I can add as many links as I want, and no one has to jump through hoops to access them. That being said…
I can share content from multiple platforms
Not only can I link to blog posts in an email, I can embed a YouTube tutorial and even share my Instagram feed.
Everyone is guaranteed to receive my email
Whether they open it or not is up to them. The average email open rate ranges from 25% - 41% whereas organic Facebook reach is about 2.2%.
I own my list
If Instagram goes out of business – heaven forbid! – I’d have no way of moving my followers to another platform. If Flodesk were to go out of business, however, all I’d have to do is export my contact list and upload it to a different email platform.
If Instagram crashed or TikTok ceased to exist I’d have no way of reaching the community I built. If Flodesk, my email marketing platform, were to go out of business, however, all I’d have to do is export my contact list and upload it to a different email platform.
The analytics are way better
Flodesk provides me with more in-depth analytics than any social media platform out there.
I can view how many people viewed my email on mobile or desktop, how many times they opened my email, which links they clicked, and where they’re from.
On many social media platforms you can only see some of these demographics.
Ain’t got time for email?
In Self-Employed School we emphasize a sustainable and effective marketing strategy that won’t dominate your days. There’s a lesson on content creation, which covers how to repurpose content across your blog, email, and social media posts.
