How to Rent a Commercial Space
Is your business outgrowing your couch?
Below are a few things to keep in mind when looking for a commercial space. Discover even more questions to ask and things to consider in the “How to Rent a Commercial Space” formula in my Debug Your Business membership. It also includes a space comparison worksheet!
Know Your Needs
How much space do you need? Does your space need exposure in a Main Street type location or do you just need an office outside of your home?
What To Find Out
When looking at spaces, ask for rental amount, what’s included, the size, and price per square foot, which will help you compare the spaces you’re looking at.
After deciding on your space and being approved, you may be asked to pay a security deposit, first month’s rent, and last month’s rent, so have that money ready.
Understand Your Lease
Finally, review your lease carefully. How long is your lease? When and by how much will your rent increase? Also review building policies.
