Serendipity Studios

I'm elated to announce that one of my biggest photographic dreams came true! MegaBug Photography now has a studio!!!

When I was working for a marketing company last summer, I had a meeting with the owner of the Tannery Marketplace. We met in an open, community-type space, and looking around, I knew I had to be there.

The Tannery Marketplace is based in the old Saranac Buck Glove Company building, and was converted to studio/office space in 1995 by my landlords, Ray & Sarah Cloutier. In fact, the building was converted on February 1, 1995- my birthday to the year!

Over the past year, I've been dreaming and imaging how I'd set up the studio and the beautiful photos I would take there. The space is larger than what I was looking for, however, so I wasn't sure if I could afford it.

A few months later my friend, Angie, approached me about renting studio space together. We looked at a few different spots, and figured we should just find out how much rent was at the Tannery. After seeing the space, Angie fell in love with it as well. It was a little out of our price range, so we thought of it as a 3 year end goal.

Conveniently, our friend, Patti, reached out a couple weeks after that, asking if we knew of a place. It was meant to be, so the three of us rented Studio 18. These funny coincidences are why we chose to name the space Serendipity Studios, "serendipity" meaning, "finding something without looking for it." It was also serendipitous as I sent Patti and Angie the word while each of them was typing it out.

We love our space, and are looking forward to welcoming our friends and neighbors to our Serendipity Soiree, an open house and ribbon cutting Oct. 20 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. For more information on our creative collective, click here
