How To Be Clear in Your Business

When we’re insecure or don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings we tend to avoid direct communication.

But not being clear can cause confusion, frustration, and resentment later on.

How to be clear in your business:

Show Your Pricing

Avoid “Book a discovery call for a free estimate.” People want to know if you’re in their budget now.

If your prices range: “Most clients invest between $ and $.”

Price transparency saves you and your potential clients time and frustration.

State Your Policies

Services: State your cancellation and other policies on your website and in any contracts. Also repeat them in email communications.

If applicable, outline a project timeline.

Products: Include your returns policies on your website and near your register in-store (brick-and-mortar).

Note Your Availability and Communication Channels

Let clients know how - and when - they can get in touch.

Communicate With Confidence

If you’re having a conversation and are put on the spot, reply, “Let me think on that and get back to you over email.” This allows you to reflect on their question/needs and provide a more thoughtful, clear response.

Clarity is kind to you and your clients/customers.

It allows them to understand the parameters of working with you (or buying from you), so they’re not caught off guard down the road.

Clarity upfront also allows you to stick to your boundaries.

Need help setting those boundaries?
