2020: Resolve

Shelby and I stayed home this Christmas, and I felt inspired to take a walk to our mailbox. I was expecting my oracle card decks from Colette Baron-Reid in the mail (LOVING them), and decided to take my camera along to capture the pretty sunset.

I’ve barely spent time outdoors as a result of a strenuous work schedule, and my have I missed it. I loved slowing down and living in the moment, which led to the epiphany of what my word for 2020 would be:

Resolve.

Resolve to me means persevering towards your desired outcome without being swayed by anything or anyone. I had just read all about resolve in Magnolia Journal’s Winter 2019 issue, and it occurred to me that I’m going to need a lot of resolve to make my most ambitious dream come true in 2020.

HERE IS HOW I PLAN TO INCORPORATE RESOLVE INTO MY LIFE IN 2020…

• Purchase The Tannery Marketplace and pick up where our former owner left off. I plan on fixing the broken and building upon our community while also welcoming the community at large through a green space right along the river.

• Get better at promoting my online courses so they account for one-third of my Miss MegaBug income.

• Grow my e-newsletter list to 10,000 subscribers.

• Pay off my smaller credit card and pay at least half the balance on my larger one.

• Grow my credit score from 700 to 730.

• Become an intuitive eater. The Universe has been sending many messages my way, including an article on intuitive eating in Real Simple magazine that I flipped to this morning.

• Get in front of the camera and have some branding photos taken so I can finally stop using my senior photos on my website!

And here is how I plan to incorporate zen into my life so I don’t end 2020 feeling like I’m on the verge of a mental breakdown…

• Get better at delegating. (I’m working on finding an awesome intern!)

• Spend time with a friend or family member at least once per week.

• Schedule a zen session of reiki, massage, a facial, or meditation class at least once per week.

• Meditate five times per week.

• Read 33 books per year. The Posse Book Club and Bliss Book Club should help!

• Enjoy my planned vacations fully and without working. Nanny is taking Mom and I to the Cape Cod Daffodil Festival in April and we’re heading back to Old Orchard Beach in July.

When setting my goals for this year I’m trying to add a quantitative element so I have something specific to shoot for. Setting a goal of “grow my email list” isn’t likely to grow my email list unless I have a concrete number to work towards.

I’m also planning strategies to keep track of my goals throughout the year instead of referring to this blog post at the end and realizing I forgot about a few of my goals!

I ordered a new planner to help with this and am using the Goodreads app to track the number of books I read. I may even create a few worksheets and printables on Illustrator. We shall see!

What are your top tips for achieving your goals? I’d love to know! Comment below. =)
