On the Rocks In Maine
To celebrate the end of my major wedding season and purchase of our new home, Shelby and I trekked to Maine for the weekend with his parents. They had taken Shelby and his brother to Ocean Park just south of Old Orchard Beach since they were little, so we researched and found the cutest cottage in that area.
The White Lamb Cottages were built by the Whites and Lambs in 1948, and they've maintained their 40s charm and utter cuteness since then. With the ideal location right next to the beach, we spent each evening strolling up and down, hunting for critters, sea glass, and sand dollars.
Shelby's mom, Tinker, found this hermit crab scampering around in the tide, and we also found a few snails.
That evening we visited Cape Elizabeth and the most photographed lighthouse, the Portland Head Light. It wasn't great sunset weather, but I love the way the sunlight hit the side of the lighthouse.
This bird posed so pretty that I had to take its picture!
The following day we went to Freeport and Portland, then visited Two Lights State Park. I only took about two good photos of one lighthouse.
Maine has a rocky coast that Shelby and I loved exploring. Tide pools have been my favorite since growing up visiting Rye Beach with my own parents.
It may have been chilly, but this purple flower- along with a few others- persist despite the wind.
After Two Lights we walked along Crescent Beach State Park. With its beautiful facilities, Crescent Beach must be hopping in the summer, but there was a bit too much seaweed for our liking.
Picture taking wasn't so bad, though!
I love living in New England. The versatility of waking up in the mountains and ending up at the beach is unbeatable, nor is experiencing four seasons. Thanks for a little bit of everything, Maine!
