Peony Season at Tarrnation Flower Farm

Last year, Vanessa Tarr of Tarrnation Flower Farm invited me to capture her business, from harvesting to floral arranging.

It was last June during peony season, and I came just as the light was beginning to turn magical.

Vanessa and her father, Reggie, know just how to find the best flowers in their rows of bushes.

Reggie started as a veggie grower before switching completely over to flowers, starting the farm on a plot of land purchased from Sel Hannah's Farm (now Ski Hearth).

Vanessa grew up roaming Reggie's gardens, inevitably piquing her interest in florals. She studied under EH Floral and at Floret Flower Farm in Washington, returning home with a determined mindset to take over the business and design aspect of Tarrnation Flower Farm.

Vanessa only uses flowers from the day's harvest in arrangements for weddings and her CSA participants. As soon as I move into a studio/office space, I'm signing up!

Thanks for sharing your farm with me, Vanessa!
