Mother's Day 2016
Moms do a lot. They stay up all night for us, take our temperature when we're sick, cry at graduations, and act as life coaches when we grow up. My mom's been doing much of the latter for me lately.
I've been blessed to have photographed so many amazing moms this past year, capturing the laughs, the smiles, and the joy in their eyes when looking at their little (and big!) ones.
My favorite part of being a photographer is the moments- "...taking an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still." (Dorothea Lange) I can pose photos all I want, but it's the moments that last, the candid shots that are most profound.
Cristina with Quinton, her youngest of four.
Colleen & Emma, who has the brightest blue eyes!
Lori with her daughter, Shannon...
...and Shannon with her son, Mason!
Arrah with her super smiley Ada.
Evelyn with her spunky flower girls, Iris and Lily.
Jody with Jordan & Garette.
And, of course, none of these images would exist without my own.
My mom gave me my first camera. It was a green disposable Fujifilm that I used to photograph the Grand Canyon on vacation when I was 11. I sometimes wonder how my life would have unfolded had she not given it to me. Thanks, Mom.
Happy Mother's Day! xoxo
